The Rubber Candy

By Frank Abbate
| The Rubber Candy is another creation of Bob Popovics and is a silicone version of the epoxy surf candy. Its a durable fly and a real fish catcher. |
Materials
| Hook | Eagle Claw 254 or Tiemco 800 |
| Thread | Fine Mono |
| Tail | White bucktail, pearl flashabou, white Ostrich Herl |
| Body | White bucktail, pearl flashabou, white Ostrich Herl |
| Wing | Peacock Herl |
| Eyes | Silver stick-on |
Tying Instructions
| 1 | Begin by tying in a small bunch of bucktail at the bend of the hook, followed by some pearl flashabou and then about 10 to 15 strands of Ostrich Herl. |
| 2 | Wrap a length of estaz, beginning at the eye of the hook back to the tail material and forward to the eye again. Trim the estaz to a nice body taper so that the peacock herl will lay back nicely. |
| 3 | Tie in about 10 strands of peacock herl at the eye of the hook. Tie off. |
| 4 | Coat the fly with silicone, add the eyes and after it dries give it a very light second coat. Let dry over night. |
